I needed to have a bit of a rest from the Riddari jumper before I get on with the colour work on the yoke, so I thought I cast on a pair of socks in between. Kay Jones from the podcast The Bakery Bears have released a new pattern for us Patreons and it’s called Blizzard.
So here is the first sock done and I have already done the ribbing on the second sock. It’s a bit hard to see it on this photo but the lace pattern is showing fir trees. I have to say that I love her patterns because they are so well written and the patterns are nice and fun to knit.
The designer Kay F Jones has done it again! She has made another fantastic sock pattern called Promenade Socks and can be bought on Ravelry. This woman should, in my opinion, receive a medal for pattern writing. They are so well written that you fly through it and end up with a fantastic item. And this time it’s this pair of socks, the Promenade Socks.
Pattern by: Kay F Jones aka bryonybear (she also have a podcast together with her husband Danaka ObiwanKnitter, called The Bakery Bears).
Järbo Garn launched a CAL ( Crochet-along) that was starting the 2nd of July, called Sommarväskan (The Summer bag). they hade pre-picked 5 colour combinations that can be found on their blog or pick your own. The yarn was Järbo Garn “Soft Cotton“. I picked the pre-colours Oceaner (Oceans) but the order was so delayed, so after 3 weeks I canceled it and ordered from another place and also changed the colour-set to Lavendel (Lavender) after starting to see how the bags look in the Facebook group for this event, and I thought it was to much green and less blue (blue being my favourite colour).
The pattern was very interesting and easy to follow but the start and ends of the rows turned very ugly, so I decided to cover it up (I have an idea what to do). So I now decided that I will make another bag in the colour set Oceaner (Oceans) and work that start/end part better and make it nice and tidy.
So here is my Lavendel/Lavender Sommarväska / Summer Bag.
After this one was done I decided to make an inside pocket for bits and bobs.
It’s finally done and it did get a bit bigger with this yarn but it’s still too small for my liking and I think I will be using it from time to time. It’s a lovely pattern and easy to knit. I think I have to make this one again someday and make it bigger.
I have knitted this one already once but the yarn was wrong for it and so beautiful, so I frogged it so I can use that yarn for something else instead. The yarn i was using was #Pro Lana Golden Socks 4-frach” in the colourway 932 and dye lot: 60988. Stunning blue colour. I couldn’t block it properly to get the points out in the lace and it ended up way to small and short.
I would love to get my hands on more of this one in this colour but it looks like it’s a hard task.
So now I’m knitting this again in Malabrigo Lace and the colour is: 237 Cuarenta.
This is the jumper that I will be tackeling, The Sólja Jumper by Anna Maltz. The pattern can be bought on Ravelry.
I will be making the left one with three rows of flowers on the yoke and the neck is higher up on that one. There will not be those colours because I wanted mine in blue, so here’s my choice. The yarn is Drops Karisma.
The yarn has been ordered so all I can do now is wait.
I was in need for needles in size 3.75 and didn’t have any (apart from the ChiaoGoo set that was in use) so I ordered a pair by KnitPro Zing with a 80cm cable. I really like the Zings. So to get the most out of the postage I ordered some yarn with it and one favourite of mine is the Cascade 220 fingering yarn (100% wool, 50gr, 250 metre). I have a shawl in mind made up of three colours, black being the main one (not a colour but you know that) and then I wanted purple and yellow this time instead of lime green because I have made one in dark grey, purple and lime green not long ago. But when I saw the magenta one I did get some problems of picking that one or the purple one, so I bought both to see how it will look in real life.
Then another top favourite yarn is Malabrigo Lace (100% Baby Merino wool, 50gr, approximately 425metre) and I have been for a long time now wanted to knit with beads, so I bought some beads to go with them as well.
I have a strong feeling that both of these will be the Pyttipanna Shawl and the Blue one is for me but the red one I might have made for someone depending on how it goes with the beads.
